Frequent flyers, especially Delta Airlines customers, will gain the most benefit from the Gold Delta SkyMiles Card from American Express. The card offers double miles on all Delta purchases, as well as double miles on everyday purchases at grocery stores, gas stations, wireless phone locations, drug stores and more. All other purchases will earn one mile.

Start out with 15,000 bonus miles after your first purchase and earn 2,500 more miles when you add an additional cardmember with your application. Earn up to $100,000 in miles spending annually. Exceed this spending cap and continue to earn miles at the rate of one mile for every dollar spent instead of two.

Miles remain active for three years. No blackout dates apply for Delta SkyMile members who redeem their miles with Delta. Miles can also be redeemed on Continental, Northwest, Alaska Airlines and others.

The Gold Delta Skymiles credit card has an annual fee of $95, which is waived for the first year. The fee is only $40 for those who already carry an American Express card.
